Andrea Murphy, leading Irish makeup artist, nominated in the top 5 Bridal Makeup Artists Ireland 2012, gives Just A Hair Thing the inside scoop on one of the makeup industry’s biggest breakthrough products- Airbase Airbrush, a high definition daily wear makeup.

Review by Andrea Murphy

“Airbase Airbrush is the hottest new craze in makeup and celebrities are going wild for it!”
Rihanna is a big fan of Airbase Airbrush makeup and used it on her video shoot for ‘You Da One!’

The secret behind the science

“What makes this product so hot is that instead of being water based the foundation uses silicone, which together with its heat-resistant properties, allows the skin to breathe, preventing pores getting clogged and delivering long-lasting results.

Formulated by Oscar nominated makeup artist Anni Buchanan, the makeup is sprayed on using an airbrush, which makes the particles of makeup tiny, much smaller than other conventional makeup. This means that when applied to the skin it is much less visible –essential for HD TV where the camera picks up every imperfection. It’s little wonder why it’s so popular!

And it gets even better when you consider that Airbase is packed full with both Vitamin A and Vitamin E, key ingredients that help fight the free-radicals that damage our skin.”

No more touch-ups!

“The other huge advantage of Airbase is its amazing durability, which means ‘touch ups’ are a thing of the past! The stars and makeup artists feedback has confirmed that the product does exactly what its been designed for – In short, it’s long lasting, provides flawless coverage, is heat-resistant and waterproof.”

A brush with love!

“When I first heard about Airbase Airbrush I was dying to try it out, so when they held a training day in Cork last year I was thrilled. There were about 6 makeup artists who attended and we all instantly fell in love with the product!”

The Test

“The training began at 9am and when the instructor asked for a volunteer, I jumped at the chance. Mostly because my intention was to get the foundation on my skin as early in the day as possible and really put it to test!”

The Results

“I loved it from the minute it was applied! After the training finished I continued about my day, shopping, housework, gym; all those exciting chores! Come to think of it, I did get a few funny looks in the gym with my flawless foundation!

By the time I went to bed that night the foundation was still in place! Plus it looked just as good then as it did that morning when it was first applied.

I was so impressed that I ordered the full makeup artists kit the next day and proceeded to contact all of my brides who had booked with me for their wedding day to tell them how much I was looking forward to using it on them.

I wasn’t disappointed and neither were they!”

The perfect finish for a night out!

“For the everyday girl it means you don’t have to worry about your makeup melting away on a girl’s night out or a special occasion.

Forget about oily shiny skin that we sometimes see a few hours later following traditional makeup applications- that just doesn’t happen with airbrushing!”

The Verdict

“Spraying is now the norm and I love to use Airbase all the time! It’s perfect for everything from weddings and photo shoots to fashion shows, and even theatre. Afterall what’s not to love!”
