Claire Squires is the definition of ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things’.
For those of you who might not be familiar with this tragic story, Claire Squires is the 30 year old hairdresser who recently died while running the 26.2 mile London Marathon, in a bid to raise money for her choosen charity, The Samaritans.
Claire was running in memory of her brother, who died in 2001 of an overdose aged 25, but she collapsed on Birdcage Walk near Buckingham Palace, less than 1 mile from the finishing line.
Claire’s tragic death, her generosity and devotion to the charity has stirred an overwhelming worldwide reaction and the fundraising web page, Just Giving, set up by Claire has since raised more than £1m.
